The Iola Recreation Department headed by a Recreation Director, employs an Assistant Recreation Director, assisted by a Recreation Administrative Assistant, and 50 seasonal employees. The Recreation Department is responsible for organizing all recreation activities, including the Municipal Pool, and Concession Stands operations and staffing, and Ball Field Maintenance.The Iola Recreation Department offers a variety of activities for all ages. Programs, activities or classes are offered at various times throughout the year. Some activities include, but are not limited to: Senior-Cise Exercise Class, Quilting Group, Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers Group, Pickleball Club, Horseshoe Pitching League, Bike Riding Group, Youth Tumbling Classes, PiYo Exercise Classes, Insanity Exercise Classes, Youth Spring Soccer Program, Dodgeball Tournament, Youth Baseball and Softball Program, Swim Team, Tennis Camp, Youth Cheer Camp, Women’s Slowpitch Softball, Swim Lessons, Isometric Water Exercise Class, Youth Flag Football Program, Fall Soccer Academy, Women’s Volleyball, NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition, Girl’s Volleyball, Youth Futsal Indoor Soccer Program, Youth Basketball Program, Breakfast with Santa, Co-ed Volleyball, Men’s Basketball.

Tickets are available at the Recreation Office, during the operating season of the specific location, for the following attractions:
Oceans of Fun tickets are available end of May through Labor Day.
Worlds of Fun tickets are available the middle of April through the middle of October.
Silver Dollar City tickets are available the middle of March through the middle of December.
Schlitterbahn tickets are available the end of May through Labor Day.
