Iola offers a wide variety of recreation facilities including golf courses, tennis courts, a classic drive-in theater, a country club, a public pool, a movie theater, and more. Listed are just a sample of recreational activities in Iola.
Open Gym – Basketball
Year Around, All Ages

Play basketball several evenings throughout the week at the Recreation Community Building Gymnasium in Riverside Park. Days and times vary depending on time of year. All ages are welcome. Cost is free.
Morning Walking

Morning walking is available Monday through Friday at the Recreation Community Building Gymnasium in Riverside Park. 8:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. Cost is free.
Senior Cise
Year Around, Ages 40 and older

Exercise at your own pace Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at the Little Theater in the Recreation Community Building in Riverside Park. 9:00 A.M. – 9:55 A.M. Ages 40 and older are welcome. Cost is free.
Quilting Group

Tumblenastics

Tumbling classes for beginning to advanced tumblers Monday or Tuesday evenings at the Little Theater in the Recreation Community Building in Riverside Park. 55 minute class time. Ages 4-18 are welcome. Monthly registration fee.
Yoga Class

Yoga class on Monday and Thursday evenings at the Art Gallery in the Bowlus Fine Arts Center, 205 E. Madison, Iola. 5:45 P.M. – 6:45 P.M. Ages 18 and older are welcome. Registration fee. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or beach towel.

Purchase reduced rate tickets for the following attractions: Worlds of Fun, Oceans of Fun, Silver Dollar City and White Water. Tickets may be purchased at the Iola Recreation Office located in the Recreation Community Building in Riverside Park during regular business hours. Valid throughout each attraction’s operating season. Ticket rates vary per attraction.
Karate Class
Year Around, Ages 7 and older

Iola Community Dance

Coloring Contests

Complete one picture to enter per contest. Contests offered for different occasions throughout the year. Ages 12 and under may participate. Cost is free. Winners drawn weekly and prizes awarded from area sponsors.
Kids Art Classes

Pee Wee Basketball League
Winter Months, Grades 3rd – 6th

Instructional league for students Saturday mornings at the Recreation Community Building Gymnasium in Riverside Park. Grades 3rd-6th may participate. Registration fee.
Recreational Soccer Leagues
Spring Months, Ages 5 – 18

Play recreational soccer on age division teams. Games are played Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings at Allen County Community College, 1801 N. Cottonwood, Iola. Enrollment begins in February and season concludes in May. Ages 5-18 may participate. Registration fee.
Chartered Bus Trips
Spring and Winter Months, All ages

Take a trip on a chartered bus to various locations. All ages are welcome. Cost varies per trip. Locations include Kemper Arena, New Theatre Restaurant and more.
Riverside Horseshoe Club
Spring through Winter Months, All ages

Horseshoe pitching for all skill levels at the horseshoe pits in Riverside Park. All ages are welcome. Join the club or play for fun. Club fee. Tournament play optional throughout season. Bring your own horseshoes.
Recreational Baseball and Softball Leagues
Summer Months, Ages 5 - 18

Play recreational baseball or softball on age division teams. Games are played during the week nights at the Riverside Park Ball Diamonds, 600 S. State, Iola. Enrollment begins in April and season concludes in July. Ages 5-18 may participate. Registration fee.
