Iola Sesquicentennial- Celebrating 150 Years

On January 1, 1859 fifty pioneers came together to form a company which was the beginning of Iola, KS. In 2007 a handful of Iola citizens came together to begin planning a year long celebration to honor those founding fifty and commemorate our 150 year history. Iola’s rich history includes agriculture & art, industry & interesting people, cultural & characters, faith & family, celebrations, tragedy, and overcoming whatever the world and elements threw at us. During 2009 the Iola Sesquicentennial Planning Committee and the City of Iola hope to give anyone interested a chance to learn a little bit more about our community, grow in your pride of Iola and celebrate Iola’s 150 year journey.
