The term for the Zoning Appeals Board is three years.
Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) consists of five members, all of whom shall be taxpayers and residents of the City, to be appointed by the Iola City Council. Duties of the BZA include (1) hearing and deciding appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Building Official, (2) authorizing in specific cases a variance from the specific terms of these regulations which will not be of these regulations will, in an individual case, result in unnecessary hardship, provided the spirit of these regulations is observed, and (3) granting a special permit as an exception to the provisions of the zoning regulations.
